Fun and Games: Students find ways to relieve stress at Putt-Putt

With finals approaching and the stress that comes with finishing a semester building, some students are beginning to need a retreat from school. Putt-Putt Golf & Games is one place to go in Abilene with a group of friends to take a break from studying.

Located at 201 S. Danville Drive between K-mart and the Winters Freeway, the site offers three 18-hole miniature golf courses, a game room, concession stand and 6-station batting cage. The course is open Monday through Thursday 3 to 10 p.m., Friday 3 p.m. to midnight, Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday noon to 10 p.m.

Darlene Martin, manager of Putt-Putt, said it is a good place to meet with friends.

“It’s a family-oriented place so there’s no bar or anything like that,” she said. “It’s something to do in Abilene where there’s not a lot to do, and it’s just fun.”

Cody Weathersby, a junior at Cooper High School and employee at Putt-Putt, said students should enjoy going because there are activities to do both inside and outside.

“It’s fun to be outside with your friends,” he said. “The workers are friendly and our batting cages cost less than others.”

The rates for Putt-Putt for one person are: $4 for one game, $6 for two games and $7 for three games. The cost for the batting cages is one token for $1, six tokens for $5 or 20 pitches for $1. Game room tokens are 25 cents each.

Ryder Foster, 8-year-old from Cross Plains, said he played a game of Putt-Putt and played in the game room, but enjoyed the batting cages the best. Although he did not win against his father, he said he still had fun and will go back.

Special packages are offered every day but Monday that cost between $5.50 and $30. Martin said the best deal is “Super Saturday” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The package includes a corn dog, small drink, unlimited Putt-Putt and video game tokens or batting tokens for $6 per person. She also said the best night to take a date is Friday or Saturday for “Moonlight Madness” from 10 p.m. to midnight. The package features unlimited Putt-Putt, a small soft drink and video tokens or batting tokens for $6 per person.

Group rates are available for 10 or more people that range from $1.50 to $5.50 per person. Groups are encouraged to call ahead.

There are also coupons in the back of the Abilene Area-Wide phone book.

Sororities and fraternities began New Member Orientation with Bid Day, officially starting the pledging process this weekend.Originally scheduled for last week, the start was delayed due to winter weather that brought snow and ice to campus. Clubs and their sponsors gathered at designated locations on and off campus to complete tasks assigned by their officers. To view the full photo gallery, visit acuoptimist.com or click the link in our bio. #acuoptimist #abilenechristianuniversity #greeklife 📸: Daniel Curdacuoptimist.com/2026/02/gallery-clubs-begin-new-member-orientation-after-weather-delay/?fbclid=PA... ...
