Holiday jobs now available on and off-campus: Jobs posted outside Human Resources office each week

December 6, 2002 by Kyle Peveto

By Kyle Peveto, Staff Writer

Jobs are available on and off campus for students over the Christmas holidays.

Most on-campus positions have already been filled for the end of December, but many departments are looking for student workers for next semester.

Applications for on-campus jobs are available in the Human Resources office in Room 213 of the Administration Building.

Job postings for on and off-campus employment are posted outside the HR office and are updated each week.

“We don’t post all the jobs that are available, just the ones we are asked to post,” said Rocio Vazquez, junior management major from Houston and a student worker in the HR office.

Vazquez recommends that students fill out an application, make copies and take it to different departments on campus along with a resumŽ.

Vazquez also recommends that any students staying in Abilene during the Christmas break look for work at department stores and at the Mall of Abilene.

Many of these stores have already filled their employment roster for Christmas, but “always accept applications after Christmas,” said Tracy Broach, an employee at The Gap and ACU alumnus.

“We are looking for temporary employment through the holidays,” said John Guitar, personnel manager at Wal-Mart.

Temporary holiday employees would be needed evenings and weekends to combat the Christmas rush, he said.

Vazquez also recommended that students continue to update their resumŽs and look for jobs off-campus, since fewer jobs are available on-campus than off.
