This, that and loads of sarcasm

Weck’s World

So what’s happening on and around campus at this point in the semester? Well…

If you’ve seen Kool lately, he’s sporting a rather large bandage on his cheek. I asked him where it came from, and he told me, “Scooter accident, Kool.” Personally, I think the guy was better off with his 10-speed as opposed to the blue motorized apparatus he’s been cruising around in this spring….

Next Thursday, the Graduate Student Association will add to a long line of forums this semester with a forum titled “Christian Response to Pornography.” And just announced, an additional forum will be offered the following week, titled “Forums, Forums, Forums: Why You Just Can’t Get Enough…”

In CAT news, the movie Two Weeks Notice, which was scheduled to show Friday in Cullen, has been postponed to April 25. By the time the movie is shown, its new title will be Four Weeks Later…

So the International Students’ Association is sponsoring a badminton tournament next weekend. Requirements for the tournament include: finding a place that actually sells badminton racquets, being able to define the word “shuttlecock” and providing a medical release form signed by your fourth grade P.E. teacher, who last taught you how to play the sport….

The GATA Fountain’s been off for quite a while now, but I don’t think it’s because of a water shortage, because apparently the sprinklers are allowed to run all night long. Interesting; I believe these are the only sprinklers known to man that actually keep grass brown, crunchy and dead! But the good news is, this year the Central Plant won’t be using ground-up manure for fertilizer….

And finally, wrapping up last weekend, ACU held a concert in Moody Coliseum Saturday featuring Christian bands Caedmon’s Call and Jars of Clay. But the two groups, who have appeared at ACU before, looked a little different this time around. Caedmon’s performed with the absence of co-lead singer Derek Webb, while Jars actually decided to play songs.

Elections for Students’ Association executive officers are next week…a screenplay is already in the works for the presidential election, effectively named “Three Guys, a Girl, and the Quest for the Golden Gavel.”
