ACU musicians are gearing up for the annual ACU JamFest, organized by the Homecoming Steering Committee. The committee will hear bands and solo acts during open auditions in the Living Room of the Campus Center from 7-9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
JamFest has been an avenue in past years for students to showcase their music, get their message out to the ACU community and even gain some fans among students. Past JamFest performers have been of all different sizes and genres, from solo country singers to punk rock bands.
“We’re really just looking for acts that have talent and good stage presence,” said Stephen Munoz, student director of JamFest and senior marketing major from San Diego.
The steering committee expects around 15 bands to show up for auditions, and Munoz said as long as an act displays talent, it can expect to be in the show.
Michael Perkins, local musician who plans to audition for the show said he is excited for this year’s event.
“JamFest is an awesome way to get yourself and your music out there,” he said.
For the less musically inclined or for those who would rather just enjoy the show, JamFest will be Oct. 16 as part of Homecoming weekend. The concert is free.
