Dr. Phil Schubert, executive vice president of the university, will take office as the 11th president of Abilene Christian University on June 1. Dr. Rick Lytle, dean of the College of Business Administration and presidential finalist, was in Oxford with ACU’s Study Abroad Program during the announcement Friday morning.
“I am so incredibly honored and humbled. This is an incredible place, with incredible people,” Schubert said. “I’m grateful to so many of you in this room who have provided incredible support and encouragement to me and Jamie through the past few months.”
President-elect Schubert then acknowledged his colleague and co-finalist Dr. Rick Lytle.
“He’s a fine man who brings incredible talents and passions to the university,” Schubert said. “He will be a vital part of the university moving forward.”
Dr. Royce Money, president of the university, thanked the Presidential Search Committee and the Board of Directors for their dedication to a successful and thorough search process. He then confirmed his confidence in the selection of Dr. Schubert.
“He’s a man with whom I’ve worked for several years and a force in the 21st Century Vision of this university,” Money said.
