Abilene Jack N Jill Donut Shops serve different purposes

January 31, 2011 by Linda Bailey

Abilene is home to four Jack N Jill Donut Shops, but they don’t all bring the same donuts to the table. Each location provides a different atmosphere and a different donut.

ACU students who want to grab a quick Jack N Jill donut on a Saturday morning should visit the Judge Ely Boulevard location. The donuts are fresh, the workers are pleasant and the drive-through allows the customer to grab donuts on the go, without leaving the car. But don’t forget to bring cash, because cards only are accepted after spending at least $5.

Any donut lover who would rather enjoy their round treat during a sit-down experience at the establishment itself should visit the Buffalo Gap location. Stepping into the large store is almost like stepping back in time. Light yellow tables and a long, yellow bar provide the perfect seating area for friends to enjoy a classic glazed donut and a warm cup of coffee. The sunlight streams into the restaurant through huge windows on each wall, providing an early morning paradise.

Jack N Jill fans who crave the delectable donuts anytime, day or night, should visit the South 14th location. Open 24 hours a day, this establishment always is pulling warm, fresh donuts out of the oven, making these Jack N Jill donuts the best in town.

Pine Street’s Jack N Jill location should only be visited in case of a donut emergency. The tiny store, connected to a vacant gas station, can feel a little cramped and has a weak selection past mid-morning.

Jack N Jill enthusiasts should not pick a preferred establishment lightly. Choosing the right location for the right morning could be the icing on the donut.
