Concierge offers flower service

February 10, 2012 by Samantha Sutherland

ACU’s Campus Concierge service will help spread more love this Valentine’s Day with the addition of an on-campus flower service.

Students can order flower arrangements from the concierge desk, located in the Campus Center, and have the flowers delivered to campus for pick-up.

Students, faculty and staff receive a 20 percent discount on purchases from a local florist, The Arrangement, when they order through the Campus Concierge desk in the Campus Center. The Arrangement drops the order off at the concierge desk and the customer is called to pick it up.

“We started this last semester, just as one of our new add-in ACU concierge services,” said Barbara Wilson, campus concierge. “It’s really been picking up the last few days with Valentine’s orders.”

The starting point for bouquets is around $30 to $35, said Jenni Williams, student services manager. And they are composed of more exotic and tropical flowers.

“They definitely have a more modern look that’s very fun and different than what you are used to seeing,” Williams said. “No baby’s breath, no carnations, very updated.”

Campus Concierge partnered with The Arrangement through the business services department, Williams said.

“We recognized that the Arrangement has a unique look that’s very trendy and more in line with what we would want our flowers to be looking like,” Williams said. “So we pursued a relationship with them.”

Campus Concierge also offers a variety of other services including a laundry service, roadside assistance and booking hotel rooms for visiting family and friends. Entertainment vendors offer discounts through the service as well. Students can even stop by on the desk on their birthday for a free cupcake, Williams said.

“We want to hear from the students what services are good, and the ones we have now are based on surveys and them asking for those different services,” Williams said. “So it’s been fun to deliver on that and we are just continuing to look for new opportunities to do that.”

As far as the flower service goes, Williams said they are making some money off of the purchases that will go back into the programs on campus and used for things such as campus beautification.

“We are all about making the student service experience amazing; I think the word we like to use is legendary,” Williams said. “We want this to be a good experience so students are finding value not only in the classroom and education but in the experience here.”
