UP announces lower rates for next school year

November 30, 2012 by Brittany Williams

University Park Apartments will be offering lower rates to residents for the 2013-2014 school year.

“We’ve talked to the students, we’ve understood their frustrations and their concerns, so we’re really going to lower the rates,” said Melanie Kirkland, director of leasing.

According to an e-mail from UP has been, “in collaboration with ACU staff, [and] we have reviewed the rates and lease options to ensure that University Park offers students the most affordable and convenient housing solution on campus.”

Not only will the lease rates be reduced, but a $30 electricity allowance, previously removed from the amenities, will be re-added to the water, sewer, trash removal, cable, laundry and internet that are already included.

Current residents who renew for at least an academic lease by November 30, will receive free summer storage, a $300 value.

Summer storage allows you to lock up your belongings in your room over the summer months and return to the same apartment upon return for the fall semester.

“We’ve really listened to the students, and they really wanted something all inclusive, so we’ve met with ACU and we’re really excited that we are going to put that back in for the students,” Kirkland said.

Lease rates for all bedroom types have been reduced for the upcoming school year.

“We just wanted to get the rates as low as we possibly could,” Kirkland said.

For a full year lease with the subsidy, an efficiency will be reduced from $581 a month, to $543 a month. A two-bedroom will be reduced from $428 a month, to $388 a month. A four-bedroom will be reduced from $385 a month to $335 a month.

Junior accounting major from Plano, Hunter Milliner said that he likes that UP is close to campus, the staff are all very nice and overall has enjoyed his experience living at UP.

“If you like the idea of being close to campus, and it being easily accessible, then I would recommend UP,” Millner said.

For more information about the current specials or signing a lease, contact Kirkland 325-738-4600 or visit their website at www.universityparkacu.com.
