FilmFest hands out awards to students

March 27, 2013 by Elizabeth Weiss

ACU had its 8th annual FilmFest this past Friday evening. Students dusted off their tuxes and pulled out their formal gowns for the event.

There were thirteen different awards given for the many short films that were submitted to the competition.

“Umbrella” by Laurn Mesaros received Best Short Film, Best Actress and Best Experimental Film. “The Mover” by Caitlin Bradford won Best Director, Best Sound Design and Best Writer. Bradford was the director, producer and editor for “The Mover.”

“It felt good to get recognition for something we spent a lot of time on,” said Bradford, senior electronic media & Spanish major from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

“Red Rubber Ball” by Lucius Patenaude won Best Actor and Best Technical Director. “Nerf Wars” won Best Producer. “Hope on Fire” by E5 Crew and Adrian Patenaude won Best Music Video.

“This was the first time I’ve worked on Film Fest without my brother, Lucius, so it built my confidence as a filmmaker in my own right. I learned a lot about the technical aspects of filming and about managing a team. I had to do my homework. But I was thrilled to make this happen for E5 Krew. They are so talented. I’m honored to have had this opportunity to work with them,” said Adrian Patenaude, junior Ad/PR major from Phrae, Thailand.
