The women’s team matched up Wednesday against Barry University here at home at the Eager Tennis Pavilion.
The ladies suffered their second loss in two weeks and overall third loss of the season.
The team won of 2 of 6 of their single matches and received only one point from the doubles matches.
Julia Mongin was defeated by Buccaneer Linda Fritschken 3-6, 4-6. Brittney Reed fell to Emma Onila 0-6.
Kaysie Hermsdorf challenged Karina Gola, putting up a fight, but proving unsuccessful 3-6, 1-6.
Hannah Kelley took on Akemi Maehama and forced a tie breaker, 2-6, 6-4, 3-6.
One of two that won their singles match was Micah Hermsdorf who challenged Elisabeth Abanda.
The match proved of great competition as they were one of the last matches to finish. Micah finished strong 7-5, 7-6, (7-3).
Laura Mongin was also one among the two that won in singles. She matched up against Kimmy Twelker. She easily defeated Twelker 6-3, 6-3, giving Mongin her seventh straight win in singles.
When partnered with Kaysie Hermsdorf in doubles, Mogin faced pair Isabela Miro and Gola to what became the longest and most challenging match of the day. The match was victored by Mogin and Hermsdorf 9-8, (11-9)
Julia Mongin and Brittney Reed were defeated by Abanda and Onlia 1-8. Micah and Kelley were defeated by Fritschkem and Twelker 5-8.
Overall, the team finished 3-6 against Barry.
The women’s team is now 8-3 in conference, and ranked No. 3 Nationally. The loss Wednesday pushed BU to have an 11-0 record.
This weekend the ladies will travel to Kingsville and San Antonio to match up against Laredo College, Texas A&M (Kingsville) and the University of the Incarnate Word.
The men’s team will travel to Houston and San Antonio to challenge Prairie View, Rice and UIW as well.
Both teams will spend three days of their spring break in Las Vegas, Nev., serving up against Fresno Pacific University, Hawaii Pacific University and Armstrong Atlantic State University.
