Former ACU placekicker Morgan Lineberry signed a three-year free agent contract with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League not long after the NFL Draft came to a close Saturday night.
Lineberry received a signing bonus from Carolina, which is uncommon for rookie free agents. The Panthers current kicker is Graham Gano, a four-year NFL veteran. Gano signed with the Panthers in the 2012 season when he made 9 of 11 field goal attempts. He played for the Washington Redskins from 2009-11.
Lineberry, a senior from Dallas, is ACU’s all-time leader in field goals made (50) and is currently third in points scored with 290. ACU Hall of Fame running back Wilbert Montgomery (422) and kicker Matt Adams (339) are the only Wildcats who have scored more points than Lineberry.
