Volleyball recruits five for 2016

December 1, 2015 by Max Preston

Five new recruits from Texas high schools are set to join the Wildcat volleyball team for the 2016 season, announced head volleyball coach Jason Bibler.

The roster will consist of 16 members, including 11 letter winners. The 2016 training camp is set to be competitive, as every player has the chance of a starting spot.

“We’re really excited about this group coming in next year,” said Bibler. “They have lots of talent and athleticism, in addition to being very motivated. They each have a strong desire to see this program succeed at the highest level and they’re in a hurry to get here and help the Wildcats take another step forward as we progress through this Div. I transition.”

The signees start with Amanda Chapa, the 5-5 libero out of Pearland High School in Pearland. Chapa had around 1,500 digs in her high school career and a 156-31 record with her team over five years. She also made second team all-state and has earned three letters from her varsity team.

Courtney Miller, the 6-0 middle blocker out of James Madison High School in San Antonio, has made second team all-district the past two years and has posted great stats, including 295 blocks. She also made the the first academic all-district team this year.

Sofia Resendiz is a 5-7 defensive specialist out of Incarnate Word High School in San Antonio. Resendiz helped her team finish 5th in state her junior year and made it to the regional final four her senior year. She also has an average of 6.04 digs and 2.64 assists in her high school career and has made the all-state academic team.
