Michelle Lytle, senior marketing major from Abilene, recently started her own design company that offers graphic T-shirts, custom orders and will potentially expand into other merchandise as well.
After becoming familiar with Photoshop last semester and attending design school in London over the summer, Lytle decided to start her own company with help from Bridget Fuessel, senior marketing major from San Angelo. The brand, Favour Design Co., is named for the verse Luke 2:52 as a reminder to grow in favor with God, Lytle said.
“I’ve always been interested in fashion design and merchandising, but coming to ACU, I knew that they didn’t have that, but I still wanted to be here,” Lytle said. “I just wanted to integrate it, and it’s always been a dream of mine.”
The hardest part about starting the business is raising awareness about the brand, Lytle said.
“Right now, social media is really crowded,” Lytle said. “I feel like a lot of people use that as their outlet to advertise.”
Favour Design was a vendor at the A People Party Productions craft fair at The Mill Nov. 21, which gave the aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to advertise their brand.
“Our goal was to raise awareness about it and get our name out there first, and then hopefully sell something,” said Fuessel, who helps with the graphic design aspect of the company.
Favour will also be a vendor at the Front Porch Market from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Dr. Rachel Riley’s house Saturday. Riley is an instructor in the Department of Psychology, and the market will take place at 1725 Austin St.
“It’s just kind of fun to live out a dream,” Lytle said. “It’s not like a huge thing right now or anything, but regardless, it’s super fun to be doing something that I’m actually passionate about and trying to do that to glorify God.”
