In this crime-thriller drama, Rooney Mara stars as Emily Taylor, a woman struggling with severe depression.
After her husband Martin, played by Channing Tatum, is released from prison for insider trading, Emily’s symptoms worsen and she makes an attempt on her life by driving her car into a concrete wall.
While being treated at the hospital for minor injuries as a result of her suicide attempt, Dr. Jonathan Banks, played by Jude Law, is assigned to be Emily’s psychiatrist.
Banks releases her from the hospital but after a second suicide attempt, Banks takes the advice of Emily’s previous psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Siebert, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, and prescribes Emily an experimental drug called Ablixa.
After Emily kills her husband, claiming she was under the influence of her new anti-depressant, the court seeks to make her or Dr. Banks accountable for her husband’s death.
This twisty thriller will have viewers guessing just who is responsible in Martin’s murder, the patient, the prescriber, or the pill.
