On Wednesday, the women’s Tennis team played at home for the first time all year and welcomed in the University of San Antonio and St. Edwards University. Everyone on the roster got to participate in at least a singles or doubles match.

In singles, the Wildcats were impressive as they picked up three out six victories over UTSA and a complete sweep against St. Edwards. Senior Nada Marjanovic and sophomore Lucile Pothier as they were able to win both of the singles matches they played.

Marjanovic beat Alena Shichkova from UTSA 6-1, 6-2, and Laura Galvan out of St. Edwards 6-1, 6-0.

Pothier was able to take down Nicole Karaklis out of UTSA 7-6, 6-2, and Marissa Williams from St. Edwards 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, the women were successful as they were able to get two out three victories against UTSA, along with an unfinished match, and two out of three wins against St. Edwards.

Sophomore Whitney Williams and junior Erin Walker beat their opponents from UTSA 6-3 and their opponents from St. Edwards 6-1.

Pothier and senior Kaysie Hermsdorf defeated their competitors from UTSA 6-3 and their opponents from St. Edwards 6-1.

Sophomore Andrea Crook and Marjanovic went unfinished in their match against UTSA as it ended being 4-4 and Crook and junior Ansley Boarman were defeated 6-1 by their opponents from St. Edwards.

“I feel we looked very competitive and professional today for our first home matches,” Pothier said. “I am glad we finished with a victory on our first match, the team fighted hard on the court and well represented ACU. If we pursue on that way, we will have all our chances against Texas A&M on February 14.”

The Wildcats team scores were a 4-3 victory over UTSA and a 7-0 sweep over St. Edwards. The next matches for the women will be on Sunday, February 14th as they face Texas A&M at 12 P.M. in College Station.
