Sing song is just a week away, and people are going to get overly competitive as usual. We all seem to get a little edgy because of the lack of sleep and inter-club/inter-class rivalry.
Most people are guilty of getting too into the annual event, and if they say they don’t, then they’re lying. Although I try not too, I still get into the competitive spirit despite trying to avoid it. This shouldn’t be what Sing Song is about. For most of the monthlong practice, everyone just enjoys being around their friends and having a good time. I don’t do sing song for the music. I do it for fun.
If you are fortunate to be a part of an act, then you understand what I’m saying. The majority of practice is filled with a lot of fun and stupid antics. Granted, I have heard other people talk about how miserable practice is thanks to their strict director(s). If that is the case, then they are doing Sing Song wrong. If you came to a school simply based on Sing Song you might need to check for insanity. I mean that in the nicest way, but seriously I have heard people say this before.
Obviously, when it comes down to it, I work hard for my club’s act, but it is really just about hanging out with friends. There are always going to be people who take Sing Song, a singing contest that won’t matter after you graduate, too seriously. But overall it’s just for a good time. So remember, if you begin to bad mouth somebody based upon their act, don’t because no one likes that.
