Men’s tennis starts road trip with two wins

April 3, 2016 by Max Preston

This week, the men’s tennis team traveled to San Antonio to face the University of Texas- San Antonio and Incarnate Word. The men were successful to start out their four game road trip winning both of their matches. The Wildcats are now 17-6 overall record (.739 pct) and own a 2-0 conference record.

In singles, the men performed well as they pulled out four singles wins out of six matches played against UTSA and then another four out of six against Incarnate Word. Sophomore Hunter Holman stood out as he was the lone man to win both of his singles matches against UTSA and Incarnate Word. Holman won by a score of 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 against his competition from UTSA and won 6-3, 6-2 against his opponent from Incarnate Word.

“These past couples win for our team feel really good,” freshman Sebastian Langdon said. “All the teams we’ve played this weekend have been really solid and it’s a huge confidence boost winning theses matches and going into the matches tomorrow and Monday.”

The men performed well in doubles as they picked up two victories against UTSA and two matches out of two played against Incarnate Word. The teams for both matches included Henry Adams/Nico Agritelley, Paul Domanski/Jason Proctor, and Josh Sheehy/Sebastian Langdon. Adams and Agritelley’s won their match against UTSA 6-4 and their match against Incarnate Word went unfinished. Domanski and Proctor lost against UTSA 6-1, but won against Incarnate Word 6-4. Sheehy and Langdon won against UTSA 6-2 and also won against Incarnate Word 6-2.

“The whole team was excited we could close out the two matches in San Antonio as confidently as we did.” Said freshman Josh Sheehy. “This confidence will for sure carry into our next two matches and we will definitely need it because they are our two biggest conference matches.”

The next matches on this road trip for the men will be against Lamar and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
