From Boys To Gentlemen

September 29, 2017 by Zeke Tripp

“From Boys To Gentlemen” is a book based on real testimonies along with a few fiction inserts that are meant to strike a change in a boy’s heart by uplifting him to be a gentleman.

Chris Daughtery, the author of “From Boys to Gentlemen,” grew up without a father figure in his life, but found hope in his grandfather. Daughtery faced a lot of pain, depression, anger and confusion with the absence of his father. However, he stayed close to his grandfather growing up, learning everything he could about what it means to be a ‘gentleman’. As life went on for Daughtery, he began to redirect his anger in the direction of writing and because of the transgressions in his life, he set out some goals for himself.

Daughtery said his goal “is for this book to bring a father figure back into the equation for those men and women that suffer from a lack thereof.”

“From Boys to Gentlemen” is also a mentorship program stemming from different speaking engagements put on by Daughtery and others. Daughtery said he aims to love on all children or men that he comes across, listen to them and ultimately provide young men with a better understanding of what it really means to be a gentleman. The mentorship program is something that rose up from feedback relating to the book, people wanted more.

Shakur Smith, ACU student and Noble Kings social club president said, “I loved the book and it definitely put some things into perspective for me. One thing that I have learned from Chris and the book is that to be a gentlemen means to learn everyday.”

You can find “From Boys To Gentlemen” in Barnes & Noble, the ACU bookstore and Google Play among other places for $19.99. If you do not have money but you are still looking for mentorship and or guidance, you can contact Chris Daughtery on Instagram @cdaught3.
