Cabinet conducts ‘secret’ acoustic concert

April 5, 2018 by Hannah Johnson

The Cabinet has organized its first “secret session” for Friday.

Michaela “Ky” Kasselman, a senior sociology major from Abilene and one of the Cabinet directors, said the night will have acoustic music and Monks coffee. However, there is a twist.

Kasselman said Michael Guillot will be the student opener. But the headliner act remains a mystery.

Three hints circulated in the Cabinet’s Instagram and Facebook page, Kasselman said.

The first hint said the band is based in Dallas. The second hint said they shared the stage with other bands, such as Echosmith, Andy Grammer, Blue October and The Band Camino. The third hint said this band is releasing a new EP.

Kasselman said a limited number of spots were available to sign up for. Fifty spots were originally made available.

“And then those filled up faster than we thought they would,” Kasselman said. “So we released 25 more.”

Kasselman said no one knows who the headliner is or where the event will take place. Those who signed up will get an email with the further information needed to attend, such as the location and how to check in.

The headliner will not be revealed until the attendants are seated.

Becca Burroughs, a sophomore art major with a concentration in graphic design from Plano, thinks the secret session will be interesting to see.

“I like acoustic just because it’s different from the average type of music that I listen to,” Burroughs said. “So it’s a nice change.”

Kasselman said the decision to continue with more secret sessions will be up to the next Cabinet directors.

Sign-ups are open until 7 p.m. Thursday. To sign up, go to the Cabinet’s Instagram and Facebook page and click on the link for the event.
