Volleyball travels to Dallas for fourth tournament

September 13, 2018 by Lexi Kirgan

The volleyball team will go to Dallas Friday to compete in the SMU Doubletree Classic, its fourth tournament of the season.

ACU is currently 3-7 for the season and will look to improve on their overall record this weekend.

Marybeth Sandercox, junior Outside Hitter/Right Side hitter for the Wildcats said LSU will be the toughest opponent they face this weekend and zoning in on the Tigers is key for them.

“Our biggest focus for this upcoming tournament would be for us to be efficient on our side of the net — getting to base, the little things,” Sandercox said.

LSU is currently 3-6 overall but beat Texas State, a team that beat the Wildcats in a previous tournament.

Lily Drever, a senior libero/defensive specialist said she wants to go into the weekend and dominate with her team.

“If we want to win these next games we have to be disciplined and on our A game,” Drever said. “We know what it takes to win so we have to hold ourselves accountable.”

Liberty University was scheduled to come face the Wildcats, but due to severe weather on the east coast, they will not be coming to compete in the tournament.

ACU will take on SMU Friday at 12:30 p.m. and LSU at 4:30 p.m.
