ACU Athletics rearrange 2020 football schedule

ACU Athletics has rescheduled the football game against Texas A&M.

The Wildcats were scheduled to take on the Aggies on Nov. 21, 2020, but now are now scheduled to play at Kyle Field on Sept. 5, 2020.

This will affect the original game on Sept. 5, where the Wildcats were scheduled to face Southern Utah as the season opener at Wildcat Stadium.

Thew Wildcats will now play Southern Utah on Nov. 21 as the last game of the season, in place of the originally scheduled game against Texas A&M. The Wildcats will face Southern Utah again in 2021.

“Both ACU and Texas A&M athletics departments were asked to accommodate a change in Southern Utah’s 2020 schedule, which allowed the Thunderbirds to open at home [against Dixie State] instead of potentially playing three straight road games to open the season,” said Lance Fleming, associate director of athletics for media relations. “We all had the ability to make the switch and agreed to do so.”

ACU will continue to face big Div. 1 schools, bringing in more money and exposure to every game. In recent years, the Wildcats have faced schools such as: Fresno State, Air Force, New Mexico, Colorado State and Baylor. In the 2019 season, ACU will play the University of North Texas and Mississippi State.

The Wildcats are searching for one more game to add to the schedule for the 2019 football season. Once complete, the schedule will be released to the public.
