Wildcat Software is looking to hire individuals who are interested in and have a passion for coding and programming.
The company was established in 2014 by Dr. Brad Crisp, director of the School of Information Technology and Computing and associate dean of Graduate Business. It was created as part of the Griggs Center’s Wildcat Ventures program.
Wildcat Ventures allows students to manufacture and run their own small business on campus. Students are able to acquire hands on training while also being in a professional environment that will prepare them to work in the real world.
Daniel Vensel, a senior marketing and management major from Portland, Oregon serves as the current CEO of Wildcat Software. He manages and maintains a substantial amount of the company’s logistics while overseeing the business and other student employees.
He said that working for Wildcat Software is like an internship; their employees take what they are learning in the classroom and apply it to their work.
Their goal was to provide students with the opportunity to develop their skills and work on real projects for clients. The company is entirely student-run and operated.
“This company helps prepare students for work after college. The environment is intended to mirror that of a professional software development company in a fun, friendly, forgiving atmosphere. Our employees are the creme of the crop frequently earning looks from top employers like USAA,” said Vensel.
Wildcat Software services are not just limited to the needs of those on campus, they serve the entire local community. They are currently finishing up working on a website for The Rainbow Bible School in Abilene and they have projects planned for the future.
The student-run company said they are looking to add new members to their staff now that they are receiving more recognition.
“Wildcat Software is one of the best professional development experiences on-campus. Every day our employees show up to work and get to be a part of something bigger than themselves doing what they love to do,” said Vensel.
