The Wildcats were on the road last week, taking 0n the UCA Bears and the SFA Lumberjacks.  They were swept by UCA and lost 1-3 against SFA.

In the UCA game, Kendall Bosse, senior setter for the Wildcats, had a record 3,000 assists. She is only the seventh athlete to have completed this in ACU volleyball history.  She said that she is very excited about doing so.

“I’m so grateful to have gotten to 3000 this season,” Bosse said. “This year has been so memorable for me and this really was such a cool milestone to hit in my career.”

Although the Wildcats came home with two losses, they learned and brought back good things.

Kennedy Shelstead, redshirt junior middle blocker, said that she knows that they can beat these teams, though they have to give their all.

“I think after this week we learned that we can compete and fight with these teams, but it has to be from start to finish,” Shelstead said. “We have played them once and will be ready for them the next time we get the chance to play them. I think that we can bring more energy and more grit. We know what we need to do to prepare and beat these teams, and when the tournament time comes, we will be ready to bring it and show them that we are not to be taken for granted.”

Shelstead said coming into Saturday’s game, the main focus will be on controlling what they know they can control.

“Our game plan for Sam Houston is to focus on controlling our side of the net and doing the little things to get the result that we want,” Shelstead said. “We have to come out firing at all cylinders. Our team went through a lot of growth this past week and I know that we are going to come out stronger in practice and for the game on Saturday!”

The game starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Moody.
