Volleyball falls to SLU, 1-3

October 22, 2019 by Lexi Kirgan

The Wildcats lost in volleyball to Southeastern Louisiana 1-3 on Thursday.

They are currently on a five game losing streak and are sitting at 10th place in the Southland Conference standings.

Southeastern Louisiana came out powerful winning the first and second set 25-15 and 25-18. In the third set the Wildcats came back to challenge them winning that set 25-17. With rally’s back and forth in the fourth set, the Wildcats couldn’t hang on and lost 24-26.

Lorin McNeil, junior middle blocker said that the mentality going into the game was to come out and fight and do what they know they can do.

“Just to be aggressive in everything that we do,” McNeil said. “Being engaged in the things that we worked on during practice and executing those things, also keeping rally’s going and scoring points off of our scrappiness.”

McNeil was aggressive leading the team with 13 kills and three blocks along with Madison Rohre, sophomore setter, leading the team with 37 assists. Two other standouts in the game was senior labero, Sofia Resendiz and senior outside hitter, Eighmy Dobbins both leading the team with 15 digs.

McNeil said that despite the loss, there were some positive things that can be taken out of the game and be brought to the next game they play.

“We have the ability to get up balls that we didn’t think we could do,” McNeil said. “Along with making shots that we didn’t think we could do and keeping our blocking on point.”

The Wildcats will have a chance to break this losing streak when they play against New Orleans on Oct. 22 in Moody at 6 p.m..
