The Wildcats took on Nicholls State Friday at Elmer Gray Stadium receiving a win, 3-0.
Prior to kickoff, the senior players were honored for what they have contributed to the team while being a Wildcat. The senior members included goalkeeper Erin Smith, defender Gabby Symmank, goalkeeper Elizabeth Folsom, midfielder Ashley Stamps, defender Isa Sanabria, and midfielder Brittney Harris.
“Over the past four years many of them have contributed a lot in different capacities,” head coach Casey Wilson said. ” They have for sure been a huge pillar in what we have been apart of in the last four years.”
ACU led past meetings with the Colonels 5-2 so they came with their heads high and ready to fight.
Sophomore forward Caylen Wright started off strong by scoring the Wildcats’ first goal in the 8th minute.
“We have been waiting for Christina to get hot and Caylen is a very good player,” Wilson said. “We had a lot of great opportunities, even if we were offsides or missed some shots, I was proud of our offense tonight.”
Soon after, senior forward Christina Arteaga took control and scored two goals of her own to bring the Wildcats up 3-0.
“I think I played well to my full potential tonight,” Arteaga said. “I was also very proud of the team for putting good shots on frame.”
The Wildcats had a successful night by leading in shot attempts, 31-9, and corner kicks, 4-0.
