The ACU men’s and women’s basketball teams swept the Tarleton State squads Wednesday evening in Moody Coliseum.
The men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak after defeating the Texans, 73-70. The win was the first time the ACU men defeated Tarleton in nearly a decade; the last time ACU beat the Texans was a on Feb. 2, 1999 when ACU won 69-62.
The win was the first for the Wildcats in the last eight games. Guard Dejan Secanski led the Wildcats in scoring with 17 points. Center Kendrick Johnson and Guard Dante Adams were close behind with 14 points if their own. ACU is now 2-3 in Lone Star Conference South Division play and 8-10 overall.
The women continued their winning ways by downing the TexAnns with a 77-71 win Wednesday evening. With the win, ACU’s extended its winning streak to three.
The Wildcats are now 12-1 on the season and remain in second place in the LSC South with a 4-1 record. Audrey Maxwell-Lively led the Wildcats with 20 points and 16 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season.
