VP to create an active Congress

April 17, 2013 by Special Contributor

I am very excited about this upcoming year. I feel like Students’ Association is in a unique position in that we as an organization have the opportunity to make a huge impact on this campus. As the executive vice president, my job will mainly deal with the internal affairs of the student body, like events and overseeing the congressmen by promoting accountability.

Next year, I plan to work closely with the athletic department. I would like to see SA partner with it in order to increase attendance at games. I would like to create more events, like Christmas Slam, that give us the ability to rally around our student athletes while also promoting our student organizations. I also want to do more surveying of the student body to see what things they think have worked and what things have not. It is my goal that this communication be an opportunity for students to present ideas as well.

I also have plans to develop congress. I would like to possibly create a small group Chapel for Students’ Association because I think it would greatly benefit us as an organization. Chapel would make us more cohesive, relational and accountable with one another all of which are crucial to being a successful congress. I want to work closely with the chief communication officer to increase the visibility of the Students’ Association office. We want students to feel welcome to come to the office and to always be aware of what is going on. This will require us to develop more social media initiatives and creative ways to reach the student body.

Overall, I’m excited about being able to be a part of making ACU a more connected and vibrant campus and I cannot wait to serve you. Please be in prayer that the Lord will move through us as an organization and use us to bless this university.

"Ending my college education early was always the plan for me, but the things that I have been able to see, experience and examine about ACU’s community were not. I have found immense growth in ACU over the past three and a half years, but ACU still has a long road to climb if it wants to keep catering to students as the world changes around them."
