January 22, 2010 by Colter Hettich

"The video and pictures can't capture the smells, or grasp the decadence of the smoke and burning bodies." David Vanderpool, senior Biblical studies major from Brentwood, Tenn., returned from Port-au-Prince on Wednesday after providing emergency medical attention to Haitian earthquake victims for almost a week. Nation’s future rides on states

January 22, 2010 by Colter Hettich

Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts was like raw meat in the Amazon river, and the ensuing frenzy had me thinking one thing: the federal systems in our country have far too much power. The 10th Amendment to the Constitution gives the states all powers not explicitly given to the federal government. In the Federalist Papers, James Madison ... [Read More…]

Absolute openness causes chaos

December 2, 2009 by Colter Hettich

Our nation's founders understood only a relatively small group of people can communicate and evaluate ideas to successfully make an informed decision. We elect individuals to represent us in Congress and city councils, so the majority of taxpayers' opinions should be represented. Most would agree these representatives are obligated to be honest ... Hidden expenses warrant doubt

November 20, 2009 by Colter Hettich

I'm finished giving away the benefits of my doubt. Verizon customers who actually look at their bills might have noticed a $1.99 fee at some point. Fees are fees. Maybe the $1.99 is some kind of maintenance charge. The two-buck fee is labeled "data" - which includes text, picture and video messaging, web browsing, daily alerts and downloads - so ... "Ending my college education early was always the plan for me, but the things that I have been able to see, experience and examine about ACU’s community were not. I have found immense growth in ACU over the past three and a half years, but ACU still has a long road to climb if it wants to keep catering to students as the world changes around them."
