Wildcats ready for Oliver Jackson Open

April 30, 2010 by Sam Bartee

The ACU Wildcats will host their only home track and field meet of the season this Saturday at the annual Oliver Jackson Open at Elmer Gray Stadium. "As coaches, we really don't want this to be a pressure meet," said Head Coach Roosevelt Lofton. "We have conference next week, so this is a meet for the athletes to be competitive but to also have ... [Read More…]

Ten reasons to love pro hockey

April 28, 2010 by Sam Bartee

Why am I talking about hockey when we're in Texas? Hockey is one of my favorite sports, but it's definitely a rarity to find someone who loves it. I was raised in Colorado, grew up playing hockey with the neighborhood kids and now find myself here in Abilene. If I were to go around asking people who their favorite Stars player is, most people ... [Read More…]

March Madness true to its name

March 31, 2010 by Sam Bartee

Christmas has been described as the most wonderful time of the year - for me, March Madness feels the same way. College basketball is by far my favorite sport to watch, so being able to watch 64 games in a period of two-and-a-half weeks is heavenly. The raw talent and drive from the players is infectious and makes you want to get up and shoot some ... [Read More…]

Summer Olympics top winter games in excitement

February 20, 2010 by Sam Bartee

By Sam Bartee Growing up in Colorado, winter activities were a big part of my life. However, if I had to choose between winter and summer, I would pick summer, hands down. The same goes for the Olympics - the summer games are just better. Although sports in both seasons are competitive, the Summer Olympics seem to be a tad more challenging, and ... [Read More…]

Bittersweet weekend for tennis teams

February 18, 2010 by Sam Bartee

By Sam Bartee It was a bittersweet weekend for the ACU tennis team having the women dominate, yet the men come up short. The men of the ACU tennis team saw their two-match winning streak come to an end Friday afternoon. And after a rough weekend overall, they dropped to 2-4 by Sunday. "Ending my college education early was always the plan for me, but the things that I have been able to see, experience and examine about ACU’s community were not. I have found immense growth in ACU over the past three and a half years, but ACU still has a long road to climb if it wants to keep catering to students as the world changes around them."
