Christian bands come to Abilene: Bebo Norman and others perform at the Civic Center

August 30, 2002 by Kyle Peveto

By Kyle Peveto, Staff Writer

Bebo Norman, the David Crowder Band and Sarah Sadler will perform at the Abilene Civic Center Sept. 21 in a concert from Christian radio station KGNZ.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., with tickets ranging from $10 for groups of 10 or more to $12 for advance tickets and $14 for tickets in the “artist’s circle,” the front rows.

Norman will be touring in support of his new album Myself When I am Real, which will be available Sept. 10. The stop in Abilene will be the 12th date on the tour that begins in Mt. Vernon, Ohio Sept. 8. The tour will stop in Memphis, Tenn., St. Louis, Dallas and Houston before stopping in Abilene.

The David Crowder Band is associated with Passion Ministries by many students. The band also leads worship at University Baptist Church in Waco. The band will accompany Norman through the first half of the tour, and Ten Shekel Shirt will perform on the second half of the tour.

Sarah Sadler will perform throughout the tour. Her debut album will also be available Sept. 10.

Norman has a loyal fan base after producing two other albums, Big Blue Sky and Ten Thousand Days and after constant touring for the last six years.

Norman performed early in his career at Welcome Week in 1999 in the campus mall area between Brown Library and the campus center.
