I applaud the members of the Chapel committee who put so much time, effort, and thought into Chapel on Sept. 11, 2002. Although the special remembrance Chapel was very moving, I was disappointed in the fact that there were no military personnel represented, mentioned, or even publicly thanked. There were civilian firefighters, policemen and paramedics that were thanked with a standing ovation, but not one military member was acknowledged.
Dr. Money talked about the price of freedom and how we should not take it for granted, yet he contradicted that very statement by not thanking the hundreds and thousands of the men and women in the United States military who make that freedom possible. The ACU Police Chief, in his closing prayer, was the only person who even mentioned the military. I find that fact very disturbing. The men and women of the US military also lost many lives on that terrible day when a plane crashed into the Pentagon, and they are still fighting, and losing lives, to maintain our freedom that was violated.
I hope that next year the US military personnel are properly represented on this special day.
