The women’s basketball team saw where it stacked up nationally this weekend, placing fourth in the Disney Division II Tipoff Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., with a 1-2 mark.
ACU started off the weekend with an 81-58 first round victory over St. Leo (Fla.), but then fell to North Dakota State 77-63 on Saturday and 81-52 to South-west State on Sunday.
“We had some bright spots and some inconsistencies,” head coach Wayne Williams said. “We had some breakdowns in our execution that we can’t afford to do against teams of that caliber.”
Williams said one of the bright spots was hanging tough with eventual winner North Dakota State and taking them to overtime.
“They were a very good team and we took it to OT,” he said. “This weekend was definitely a good indication of where we can be on a national scale.”
The Wildcats return to action 7 p.m. Saturday in Moody Coliseum for an exhibition game against the semi-pro Houston Flames.
