Junior Arthemon Sindayigaya will be the lone Wildcat track and field athlete participating in the Stanford Invita-tional in Stanford, Calif., Friday and Saturday. Sindayigaya will run the men’s 10,000-meter run among some of the nation’s best collegiate competition.
The distance runner will attempt to meet the automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships of 29:20, and head coach Jon Murray said this was his main motivation in sending Sindayigaya to the Stanford meet.
“The competition will be excellent,” Murray said. “But the weather is probably just as important. The wind won’t blow there.”
Sindayigaya will compete Friday night between 8:30 and 9 p.m.
Selected athletes will travel to Austin for the prestigious Texas Relays April 3-5, while most of the team competes in the Tarleton State Relays in Stephenville April 5.
