The men’s and women’s track and field teams are participating in the Angelo State Relays in San Angelo, which run from Thursday to Saturday.
The meet marks the second to last chance for the majority of both teams to post qualifying times or marks for nationals before the Lone Star Conference Championships May 2-3 in Abilene.
“They have good facilities, good competition there,” head coach Jon Murray said. “Hopefully, we’ll have good weather and not too much wind. We’ve had a few injuries lately, so we’ve been trying to overcome those recently.”
A few notable athletes are questionable for competition at the ACU Relays because of injuries including Nic Alexander, sophomore thrower Manuel Brandenborn, freshman star quarter-miler Delt Cockrell and heptathlete Alice Bergstrom, Murray said.
Fifteen men and women and four relay teams have qualified for nationals with six meets remaining before the championship.
