Fans witnessed history Saturday afternoon as ACU and West Texas A&M battled for four hours at Shotwell Stadium.

When the dust settled, the Wildcat football team had shattered a school scoring record for a single game and had advanced to the NCAA Division II quarterfinal round for the first time in school history.

The Wildcats defeated the Buffs 93-68. The previous record was 81 points set in 1920 against Daniel Baker College.

Running back Bernard Scott finished the game with 353 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns. Quarterback Billy Malone threw for 383 yards and six touchdowns.

ACU will face Northwest Missouri State next Saturday at Shotwell Stadium. The Bearcats beat Pittsburg State 38-35 Saturday.
