ACUPD grateful for recognition

February 11, 2010 by Special Contributor

JIMMY ELLISON

Chief of ACUPD

Optimist staff:

Thanks very much for the editorial on ACU ALERT. I’m not sure who all is responsible for selecting editorial topics, who has input, edits, etc., but today’s editorial/opinion was factual, on point and very well-written. I appreciate the coverage and the positive light shone on ACU ALERT.

Also, the editorial cartoon was noticed very quickly by my officers and I. I know students traditionally make lots of complaints and lots of good humored jokes/jabs directed at campus police, even at ACU, but it was very nice to see the Optimist take the opportunity to spotlight ACU ALERT and additionally to place the cartoon section on hold this week with a simple thank you directed to the ACUPD and the jobs our officers do 24/7 to keep the campus and surrounding areas safe.

The ACUPD team of professional police officers and staff work hard to make sure we are doing everything possible to make ACU a safe area for people to live, learn and work in. Campus law enforcement has changed drastically over the years. Providing professional police services to a campus community is much more involved than many people realize. It was very nice to see the Optimist take a moment to express their gratitude for the jobs our officers are doing out there 24/7, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
