The Wildcats are one game away from a regular-season Lone Star Conference title after taking two of three from Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday and Monday.
It rained cats and dogs in Weatherford, Okla., on Friday and Saturday, delaying the series between the ‘Cats and the ‘Dogs for two days. SWOSU took the first game 2-1 on Sunday, but the Wildcats roared back Monday to sweep a doubleheader with the Bulldogs.
Cameron Aspaas pitched well for ACU in the first game, giving up only two runs in six innings while striking out five. However, Bulldog pitcher Red Patterson stole the show, giving up only one run in nine innings while striking out 15 batters.
The Wildcats responded to the defeat in their usual fashion, outscoring the Bulldogs 19-1 during Sunday’s doubleheader. Zach Sneed got the win in the first half of the doubleheader to improve to 8-0. Aaron Lambrix grabbed the win in the second game to improve to 7-0.
The Wildcats return to Abilene for a big four-game series with Tarleton State this weekend. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. Friday. The Wildcats are one win away from a regular-season LSC title.
