Learning Studio offering holiday deals

December 9, 2011 by Special Contributor

By Katie Jenkins

The ACU Learning Studio is bringing holiday cheer this year with 12 days of giveaways.

From now until Friday, the Learning Studio staff will give away one of their favorite iOS apps and an 8GB flashdrive every day. As a grand prize, one lucky winner will receive a Cinemin Slice projector.

ACU students, faculty, and staff may enter to win by following @learningstudio on Twitter or by liking ACUlearningstudio on Facebook. Additional opportunities to enter will be announced on Facebook and Twitter every day.

The mastermind behind the idea was Dr. Kyle Dickson, director of the Learning Studio and Associate Professor of English.

“We’ve had a great first semester working with students and faculty in the Learning Studio, so it started as an opportunity to give back,” Dickson said. “We realized that Dead Day fell on 12/12 this year, so the 12 days seemed like a nice fit, minus the turtle doves.”

Dora Weathers, Learning Studio supervisor said, “Dr. Dickson is a very generous man and has done a lot to help our Learning Studio really grow and develop.”

Dickson said he hopes that the apps will be a way to show how much mobile tools are changing how we work, create and share and also provide an opportunity to connect with the campus through social media.

Some of the apps being given away include iMovie, Filterstorm and Filterstorm Pro, ReelDirector, Garage Band, Pages, Notes Plus, and Whiteboard HD.  The grand prize, a Cinemin Slice projector, has the capability to project movies or images from your computer, iPhone or iPad for optimal viewing experiences and is valued at around $300-400.

Winners will be notified through Facebook and Twitter and should come by the Learning Studio claim their prizes. For more information, visit http://blogs.acu.edu/learningstudio/blog/.
