Fall TV Preview: Your guide to the most highly anticipated shows

September 20, 2013 by Alikay Wood

As the Fall TV premiere season begins it is easy to get overwhelmed by the new shows and difficult to discern which old shows are worth watching. With this in mind here is an easy guide to the seasons most anticipated new shows with our recommendations for what to watch and what to skip.

Sleepy Hollow
Mondays 9:00-10:00 p.m. on Fox
For people who like: Once Upon a Time, Elementary
This modern take on a classic story has the potential to be a hit but things could go wrong very easily.
The verdict: Try it, but be ready to stop watching if things go crazy.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
For people who like: Arrow, Heroes
This highly anticipated show chronicles the lives of several lesser known Marvel superheroes. Produced by Joss Whedon and starring Clark Greg as Agent Phil Coulson, the show is ambitious but may push the Marvel empire over the edge.
The verdict: Skip it. Marvel should have left it at The Avengers.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Tuesdays 7:30 p.m. on FOX
For people who like: SNL, Parks and Recreation
Andy Samberg headlines this comedy about a free wheeling cop and his by the books partner. The show will have a difficult time finding the balance between humor and being annoying but if it succeeds will likely run for a long time.
The verdict: Try it. Andy Samberg is a comedic veteran and it’s worth watching his first TV series since SNL even if it doesn’t succeed in the long run.
Dracula
For people who like: True Blood, The Tudors
Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars in this period drama which takes an initmate look at the original vampires life.
The verdict: Try it. Meyers has proven himself a formidable talent and the story of Dracula is one worth revisiting.
