The ACU softball team is back on the road this weekend to play against the Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjacks. This will be ACU’s second away game for conference play and they will look to earn more wins for the season record.
The Wildcats are 15-18 overall and stand 4-2 in conference as they look forward to continuing their four-game winning streak.
This will be the first three-game series between the Ladyjacks and the Wildcats, but not the first time the two teams have crossed each other.
ACU met up with SFA earlier this season at the North Texas Invitational in Denton. The Wildcats lost the game 3-8 after they took a 2-1 lead into the fifth inning. The Ladyjacks made their big comeback in the fifth inning as they scored six runs. The following run was made in the seventh inning as E. Arana hit a homer to left field.
SFA’s top pitcher for the game was Brittany Lewis, as she pitched for the full seven innings, and the Wildcat’s pitchers were Emily Seidel and Hannah Null, who came in to record the final two outs. Null collected four strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
The matchup between the Wildcats and the Ladyjacks should be close as both teams have improved since the first game they played each other.
The Ladyjacks are also 15-18 overall, 6-5 in conference and stand strong playing at home with a record of 7-1.
Game against Stephen F. Austin will begin Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by game two at 3 p.m. Sunday’s game will take place at 12 p.m.
