The ACU Alumni Association will host the 10th annual “Alumni Night at the Rangers Game” at Globe Life Park.
The game will begin Monday, June 9 at 7:05 p.m. against the Cleveland Indians.
Each year the alumni association hosts ACU alumni, faculty, staff, students and parents at a Rangers game to cheer on the Texas Rangers. The event is open to anyone, and seating is in the all-you-can-eat porch. Ticket cost is $25 and does not include parking.
“The cool thing about where we have moved the event in the past three years is that it is now in the all-you-can-eat porch,” said Samantha Adkins, senior alumni relations officer. “So, that $25 gets you chicken sandwiches, nachos, hot dogs, popcorn and soda all the way until the seventh inning.”
Every year the park reserves around 750 seats for ACU, and tickets are sold first-come, first-serve.
“So far we have sold over 400 tickets,” said Adkins. “We’re hoping to sell all 750 tickets this year as well.”
Someone from ACU will be throwing out the first pitch at the game this year. A name has not yet been released, but Adkins said either a faculty member or an alumni will do the honor.
“We plan to continue this tradition that we have set up,” said Adkins. “It is a great way for alumni and perspective students to take over the ballpark.”
Adkins said that they ask for everyone to wear either purple or white to the game.
“It’s really fun to see that sea of purple and white at the ballpark up in the all-you-can-eat section,” Adkins said.
Students that have attended the event in previous years are also excited to be a part of the continuing tradition.
“I went last year and it was a lot of fun,” said Abigail Fransen, junior history major from Fort Worth. “I think it’s a great opportunity to just hang out and meet ACU people you wouldn’t necessarily get to meet on campus while enjoying a Rangers game. I can’t wait to go back this year.”
