A new podcast, called Seriously Silly, has made its way onto campus, courtesy of two members of the Students’ Association.
Isaak Ramirez, sophomore computer science major from El Paso, and Matthew Connel, sophomore advertising and public relations major from Atlanta, started this podcast so people could get advice about things on campus.
The podcast talks about everything from tipping your waiters to crushing pecans to a conspiracy theory behind why Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is called The Rock, and even genuine, heartfelt advice given by the hosts and their guests.
“It’s an advice podcast where people can send in their questions,” Ramirez said. “We try to make it funny, and we try to have a guest on every episode – either an ACU professor or an ACU student.”
Ramirez said they also look at questions from Yahoo Answers just for fun.
“We’ve planned this since last semester,” Connel said. “It’s a matter of connecting with the people that will be on air with us.”
They posted their first episode on Feb. 10, and Connel said they hope to make the podcast a weekly thing.
As much as they are an advice podcast, their main goal is to provide entertainment to students and faculty who are struggling to make it over the mid-week hump.
“I think one of the main draws of ACU is the whole small classroom experience and knowing your professor and the students around you,” Ramirez said. “This podcast will really hit on that. We think it will be nicer and more beneficial to hear your professor outside of a classroom environment. But the main goal is to have an entertaining platform in which people can listen to.”
The podcast will be posted every Wednesday at http://www.soundcloud.com/seriously-silly.
