Tennis grabs another conference victory against Nicholls State

Both of the Wildcat tennis teams were active this week as the women played a match on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the men played a match on Wednesday.

The women played Southeastern Louisiana and lost 4-3, but were able to get a victory against Nicholls State by a score of 6-1. The men also played Nicholls State and picked up the victory by a score of 6-1 as well.

The women came out and impressed in singles as they were able to pick up three out of six victories against Southeastern Louisiana and five out of six victories against Nicholls State. Standouts in singles for the women included sophomore Lucile Pothier, senior Nada Marjanovic, and sophomore Whitney Williams as they were the three that won both of their singles matches against each team.

Pothier beat her competition from Southeastern Louisiana 6-4, 6-3, and from Nicholls State by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Marjanovic beat her opponent from Southeastern Louisiana 6-1, 6-3, and from Nicholls State 6-3, 6-3. Williams won over her competition from Southeastern Louisiana 6-2, 6-1, and her competition from Nicholls State 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles, the women took one match out of three from Southeastern Louisiana and two matches out three from Nicholls State. The teams this weekend included Williams/Erin Walker, who lost against Southeastern Louisiana 6-3 and won against Nicholls State 6-4, Pothier/Kaysie Hermsdorf, who won against Southeastern Louisiana 6-2 and won against Nicholls State 6-0, and Marjanovic/Andrea Crook, who lost 6-1 against Southeastern Louisiana and lost 6-3 against Nicholls State.

The men were able to pick up five out of six singles victories in their win over Nicholls State. In doubles, the men were able to pick up two wins out of three matches getting the doubles point for the whole match. The teams included Henry Adams/Nico Agritelley, who won 6-3, Jason Proctor/Paul Domanski, who won 6-3, and Josh Sheehy/Sebastian Langdon, who won 6-2.

The men will play their next match Friday, March 18th against New Orleans University in New Orleans. The women will also play their next match against New Orleans University in New Orleans on Friday.

Several ACU students were removed from the seating behind the Utah Valley bench late in the fourth quarter while arguing with UVU fans. After a conversation with ACUPD and other staff members, they were relocated to the stands near the UVU bench on the south baseline.

An altercation occurred between Associate Head Coach Yannick Denson and UVU Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Josh Morzelewski ahead of the 1 p.m. tip. The playing surface was mopped less than an hour before tip, while the Wolverines were completing their pregame warmups.
