A student organization fair will be conducted in the McGlothlin Campus Center on Thursday, March 22.
Generally, fairs like this happen either once or twice a semester. This will be the first fair held this semester.
Each student organization received an email asking whether they would like a table or not in the campus center. Set-up starts as early as 10 a.m., with tables being most heavily trafficked between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The fair will end at 2 p.m. Although normally only 12 groups table, this fair will consist of 16 different groups.
The total number of students involved in student organizations as of December 2017, said Chris Herrington, coordinator of student organizations and productions, was 3,637. The largest number of members an organization can have is 300, with the minimum number at 10. The larger clubs normally have 30 or more sign-ups at fair time. However, Herrington said, the average club gets anywhere between 5 and 30 sign-ups.
The main target audience of these fairs, Herrington said, are freshman and sophomores searching for the chance to participate in community at ACU. Reflective of that, the fairs’ greatest successes have been on admitted student days and at new student organizations.
