The 16th semi-annual My Sister’s House sale will open to the public for a pre-sale on April 18, and continue through April 21.
ACU graduates Summer Walters and her sister Kate Stover have hosted the sale for eight years and grown it to around 2,000 transactions. From an event center downtown to the Abilene Fairgrounds display building for the past three years, each sale has 200-300 consigners that cumulatively bring in thousands of clothes, jewelry and household items to fill 16,000 square feet of space.
Despite being teachers, the sister duo runs their consignment sale part-time. Walters said they had a boost of confidence after winning Springboard in 2012.
“It made us feel legitimate,” Walters said. “This is a real business, and people see the value in it. They believe in us and are supporting us. It kinda gave us the confidence to grow.”
University students get into the sale for free with a student ID, and can come to the public pre-sale at 6:00 p.m. The public sale, free for all entrants, starts on April 19 at 9 a.m. On Sunday, the half-price sale will begin at 9 a.m.
