Worldwide Witness is taking applications for new participants. They are looking for new people to come in and travel the world to do God’s hands-on work. 

Worldwide Witness is an organization on campus that recruits people to come do service in other countries around the world to spread the love and knowledge of Jesus. The process begins every fall semester. 

Students must write a spiritual autobiography explaining how they became the person they are. They must fill out an application to send in, along with a $100 application fee that goes towards the travel and preparation of the trips they may go on. 

The students will also have meetings and interviews with the professors that run the organization. They must also get recommendations from a spiritual leader and an ACU faculty or staff member. 

This year there are new locations available for students to travel to but Worldwide Witness does not advertise because they are “flying under the radar,” said Missions and Global Service Coordinator Larry Henderson. 

“We are always wanting to work with missionaries that are on the ground serving in a place long term,” Henderson said. “We want what we do to be apart of a long term work,”  

When entering Worldwide Witness, coordinators will ask students if there is a specific location they would be interested in serving.

Once students are assigned a partner and have a location, they will be enrolled in an advanced Bible course called BMIS 391 for the spring semester. That course prepares students for the global context they might experience such as culture, language, spiritual disciplines, and world views.

At the end of the spring semester, they receive an IP grade which stands for incomplete passing. Students will leave for their mission in the summer and return the following fall semester. 

“Whenever they get back to campus in the fall we sit down to schedule a one-on-one interview to talk about their stories and experiences and just make sure they are in a good place,” said Henderson. 

Mitchell Bradford, senior theatre major from College Station, said he has done two Worldwide Witness trips to Slovenia. The first trip he participated in was during the summer of 2018 and then again in the summer of 2019. 

“When I came back, it changed my perspective on what is really important and how I want to be a servant in the Kingdom of God,” Bradford said. “Instead of feeling like this is what I’m supposed to do, it became I love God so much that this is what I have to do.”

When the student returns they will receive their final grade for the course. Henderson said they have students repeat every year. 

Bible 101 is the only prerequisite for eligibility in Worldwide Witness.
