The Wildcats held Southeastern Louisiana for their second match of the weekend’s double-header. The match, which used two overtimes, resulted in a 0-0 tie.

“We played well enough to win today with enough opportunities,” head coach Casey Wilson said. “Right now I just feel like we need to compose and do what it takes to finish it. They had a very good defensive team we just needed to be more dangerous with our shots.”

ACU started off strong with having possession right off the kickoff. In just the first half, ACU led in shots with 13. SLU fell behind with only three shots in the first half.

Senior goalkeeper Erin Smith put up a wall allowing no goals to get past her. She managed to get a total of five saves but played strong defense the whole match.

“Erin had some exceptional saves today,” Wilson said. “They had some dangerous opportunities and she really did an awesome job holding them back.”

In the second half and overtime, the Wildcats led with 15 shots while the Lions only gathered five. This gave ACU a one-up by having a total of seven shots on goal compared to SLU’s five shots on goal.

The Wildcats had a strong offensive team receiving nine corner kicks, but the strong SLU defense held them back.

“I think I had a good game today,” Smith said. “It all comes down to my team helping me out and doing their part, which they did.”

ACU hits the road to take on Northwestern State Thursday at 7 p.m. in Lousiana for their third to last conference game of the season.
