Students gather at GATA fountain to celebrate Adobe partnership

January 21, 2016 by Mercedez Hernandez

Students surrounded GATA fountain Wednesday after chapel to celebrate the partnership between ACU and Adobe, which gave all students free access to Adobe tools like Photoshop and InDesign.

The celebration was arranged by ACU’s student-run Ad/PR Agency Morris + Mitchell. Karley Adrion, account director at Morris+Mitchell, coordinated the Adobe event. Adrion said she and her team had been preparing for the event since last October.

“As one of the account directors, this account was one of two that I was assigned once school started,” Adrion said. “After a briefing with my client contacts here at ACU, my team and I began brainstorming ideas on how to implement Adobe CC on the ACU campus.”

At the event, students could enjoy live music, hot chocolate and a photo booth as they signed up for their free Adobe Creative Cloud accounts. Adobe representatives were also present at the celebration.

“We’re here to support the event and student’s access to Creative Cloud tools,” said Patrick Koster, Adobe customer success manager. “We’re thrilled to be a part of this event and all that ACU is doing to support its student’s success with digital careers and personal lives.”

The partnership between the university and company had been a process over a number of years, said Tim Schulenburg, director of strategic accounts with Adobe.

“It started with an agreement that supported the institution faculty, staff and institution machines,” Schulenburg said. “The institution felt that the toolset would add value to the student experience and went ahead and made an investment along with Adobe to ensure that all students would have access to these amazing tools.”

Adrion says the exact number of students who signed up for Adobe CC at the event is not yet known, but she is pleased with how the event panned out.

“With events that are optional, especially on-campus events, attendance can vary. It was something we were concerned about at first,” Adrion said. “However, as students ourselves, we had some insight into our target audience. We chose a convenient location, high-traffic time-of-day, and elements like live music, free giveaways, and hot chocolate to draw in students.”
