I WAS GOING TO CRITIQUE THIS, BUT IT DOESN’T SEEM TO BE FINISHED, RIGHT?
Election season is one of the most complicated, divided and stressful times within our nation. Red, white and blue hang around our necks and stand on our yards in proclamation of new order and corresponding rulers.
Voices leak through the TV and radio screaming “VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!” as you scramble to try to find your voter registration card, only to find that you don’t even know who is running. But of course, it doesn’t matter who you vote for, right? As long as you vote, you will be respected as a true American citizen ready to take the plunge into the abyss of politics. It’s our duty, right? To vote regardless of who is running or what is going on. The point of this jungle is to make it to the end and accept the consequences of the winning candidate.
That’s what you’ve been told; to keep running even if you don’t know where you’re going.
Let’s get one thing straight: It is okay to not know what’s going on with the election.
It’s okay to not know what each candidate stands for, what a preliminary is or what a caucus is, let alone who to vote for in the end.
