The Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Club will host its annual intramural rodeo April 12.

The rodeo is open to any student who wishes to participate. Students can sign up through IMleagues.com.

Reagan Brown, sophomore accounting major from Midland, said his team is ready for the rodeo.

“Me and the fellas are real excited for the rodeo,” Brown said. “We look forward to it every time it rolls around. I can assure you that come rodeo time, me and the boys will be fired up and ready to go.”

The rodeo is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the club and has taken place for at least 30 years, said Mary Kittrel, AES president.

“It has helped pay for research projects that I have been a part of, and it pays for traveling to conventions,” Kittrel said. “It’s really helping out the students, and it’s not just solely an intramural sport.”

Even though only students are allowed to participate, other community members are welcome to come as spectators.

“We get sponsorships every year where businesses get involved,” Kittrel said. “We give them T-shirts and put their banners up, and they pay us to help put on the rodeo.”

The rodeo will start at 6 p.m. at the Expo Center of Taylor County, 1700 Highway 36. Single tickets will be $5 and $8 for two.
